“ I went here for dim sum last Saturday and it was packed. Luckily one of my coworkers made reservations. We shared a bunch of items, and these were the items I enjoyed the most: 1.) XO 醬煎釀茄子 Stuffed Eggplant w/ Pork & shrimp XO Sauce ($7.50) +Pan-fried, not deep fried! I've noticed that a lot of dim sum places have started deep frying, which isn't the traditional method. +Eggplant melted in my mouth +Good amount of filling 2.) 乾炒牛河 Beef Chow Fun ($18.95) +Good amount of tender beef slices +Crisp bean sprouts +Noodles were stir-fried well and not stuck together +Well-seasoned and not super greasy 3.) 排骨蒸腸粉 Steamed Pork Spare Rib Rice Roll ($9.25) +Rice noodle rolls were so soft and soaked up all the delicious sauce! IMO they tasted better than the other rice noodle rolls we ordered +Pork riblets were tender On the other hand, these were the lows: 1.) 蘿蔔牛雜 Beef Offal Stew with Turnip ($15.00) -Really bland -Turnip was fibrous -Offal was very chewy, so didn't seemed as if it was stewed long enough. 2.) 炸兩 Chinese Doughnut Noodle Roll ($7.25) -The doughnut was very soft and didn't have any crunch left. *Verdict: They refilled our teapots pretty often and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I wouldn't mind coming back here with a group to try other items on the menu! ”
“ Food is wonderful, Service is very good and ambiance has a casual and classy feeling. If you like Authentic Chinese Restaurant this place is a go to place.. ”
“ Lai Hong Lounge has that authentic Chinese dim sum feel, & it lives up to it. You walk in & the host is yelling in Chinese, it's chaotic, you somehow sit down & mark down on the menu what you want, & you eat delicious food that's not too expensive! The snowy pork bao with the cookie top was decent with a generous amount of pork filling (& not just the fatty part of the pork either, the filling was very good), but I felt that the baos were a bit doughy - I still prefer the cookie top snowy pork bao at Osmanthus. However, the bao here are only ~$7 whereas they are $10 as Osmanthus. The beef cheng-fun & shrimp cheng-fun were tasty & the sauce was just right, giving a perfect nostalgic flavor. The garlic green beans & deep fried shrimp balls were decent, nothing to note on those - tasted like regular Chinese dim sum. Service is fairly fast but can take a bit to get a table on a weekend, & parking in the area is tough! Compared to the other dim sum places I have been to in SF, Lai Hong Lounge has quality food & is definitely on the cheaper side! Most of our dishes were around $7. ”
“ I'm almost certain I have been here before, this is an older dim sum restaurant which has been in San Francisco Chinatown for a long time, The restaurant is smartly decorated quite lavishly for a dim sum house but they also do dinner menus and banquets. This dim sum restaurant doesn't use the cart system of dim sum service but more of a ordering off a dim sum menu, that way the dim sum comes out freshly steamed. There was a slight glitch, the vegetable roll wrapped in tufu skin was a little stale to me, but all in all a typical dim sum restaurant with most items you would want for dim sum. In my opinion, they make a pretty spectacular chicken feet. Definitely worth the trip but the parking situa atrocious around that area. ”
“ Pretty reasonable dim sum and given today's prices, not bad. Mostly 4 stars. Get there by 10am when if opens on weekends or come around 11:30 for the second seating. Otherwise, you'll be waiting a while. ”
“ Serving the dim sum classics, some with a slight new twist. Food: Made to order and not the old-school dim sum food carts Overall fresh tasting and quality Plentiful vegetarian options Ambience: Like a packed can of sardines during the weekend bunch hours... you better get cozy with your neighbors!!! Service: No complaints; rather impressive in keeping organized when things get so hectic and crowded ”
“ Soooo much to try! I am visiting the city and this seemed to be one of the few dine in dim sum restaurants in the china town area that we could find. It's was packed with people but the wait wasn't long. I tried so many dishes including some delicious vegetarian plates like the garlic bok choy and the garlic pee sprouts ! The restaurant was remodeled so the walls made it look like a modern dim sum restaurant. There are LOTS of tables inside which is great for dining in but it takes away from the beautiful interior. Overall a great place to try. ”
“ Lai Hong Lounge is the go-to dim sum restaurant in Chinatown for SF locals because the food is consistently good. I've frequented this restaurant since my childhood, and ownership has changed a few times, with a recent remodel. Every time I come here, it's always bustling with crowds of people waiting for a table outside. Like most dim sum lounges, it's really loud inside and may be hard to flag down a staff member. Upon arrival, make sure you go inside to the host and get a number because standing around the entrance won't get you noticed. Luckily you order by marking the quantity of items you want on a paper menu at your table. The menu has pictures for every item which makes ordering easy. You then hand the menu to a staff member who submits your order to the kitchen. Sit tight while the dishes are directly served to your table! ”
